Kaiapoi Railway Station

Paris for the Weekend
Relocation, restoration & renovation

We were honoured to be tasked with the complex project of relocating, restoring and renovating this respected 119 year-old landmark, here in the heart of North Canterbury.

Today Paris for the Weekend, is a beautiful cafe and sits-pretty overlooking the Kaiapoi river. But it wasn’t until late 2023 that this historic building found its current location and was transformed into the character filled cafe you see today.

Hazeldine managed and executed the lift, and transferred the building over to line it up with the boardwalk along the Kaiapoi River. The restoration and renovation then took place over the following months to breathe new life into the building.

The restoration is a true tribute to the railway pioneers of Kaiapoi, and something we are incredibly proud to have been a part of.
